Have you heard of BookFunnel? If you’re an indie author, I hope so! But if not, understanding how to use BookFunnel can help you and your readers.

BookFunnel is the delivery service that many authors use to deliver free reads, aka “lead magnets” to readers. I also have an online shop and use BookFunnel to fulfill my paid eBook orders, too. (Many authors are opening up online shops. Are you?)

You can take a peek at my shop here: JulieCarobini.com

I met the owner of BookFunnel at a large writing conference years ago, and he told me he worked hard to create a delivery system and app that his octogenarian mom could use. I thought that was so smart!

Since then, I’ve used BookFunnel to deliver thousands of ebooks to readers. Most have no trouble downloading onto their e-reader, phone, or computer, but every once in a while, someone does.

Why is That?

I think one reason is that BookFunnel offers so many options for reading eBooks that people can become overwhelmed.

Or maybe it’s the initial learning curve that scares readers off.

So it’s up to us to make sure that we understand how BookFunnel works so we can encourage readers who are reluctant.

As I mentioned earlier, BookFunnel is a great way to deliver giveaways or sell books directly to your readers. I like to remind readers that if they master it once, they’ll have access to so much more than they do now!

As for me, I often just read directly in BookFunnel’s free app.

My entire library is there and that’s the simplest way to access them all in one place.

But … there are myriad other ways to read, including putting BookFunnel-obtained ebooks onto other devices, such as Kindle, Nook, iPhone or tablet.

✅ HOT TIP #2 I always remind my readers that if they have any trouble at all, they only need to click the Need Help? button at the top of their BookFunnel delivery email and someone will reach out to walk them through the process.

I must sound like I’m affiliated with BookFunnel, but I’m not! I promise that I don’t own any stock in the company😆.

As indie authors, I think we can agree that we don’t want our readership to pass up a good read even if technology is a little intimidating at first.

Here’s a fun little graphic I made that shows some options for downloading. You might have to enlarge it with your mouse or fingers if on your phone, but it’ll give you an idea of how to use BookFunnel is you haven’t tried it for yourself yet:

This is a graphic created by Julie Carobini showing how readers can use BookFunnel to deliver ebooks to their readers.

Want to practice?

Here’s a short story I wrote a couple of years ago that you can download to your own device or read in the BookFunnel app. This FREE ebook is a light-hearted second chance romance ❤️ set at—where else?—the beach.

It’s called One Little Catch and to download it, you’ll have to subscribe to my fiction readers list. But you can unsubscribe at any time, or if you’re already on my list, your email address won’t be duplicated.

✅ HOT TIP #2: When you reach the download page, look for Read a Sample in Your Browser. Click that link and you’ll get a taste of what reading in the BookFunnel app looks like.

Okay, here’s that link:

Now go ahead and play around with the different options. This way, you’ll be ready to help readers the next time someone gets stuck.

Ready to promote your book? Here are nine free ways!
